Westward

Westward is game remake of the classic French card game Mille Bornes, a perilous road race. The goal of the game is to throw hazard cards in your opponents way to slow their progression to the finish line. By using repair and safety cards to overcome hazards, players race to the finish line.

Inspiration

Maintaining the Oregon Trail theme into the rugged handmade feel of the embroidered canvas board with wooden pawns, the scrap wood card holder and a small chest to contain all the game pieces. The environment details were painted on as if the pioneers used it to mark landmarks along the way. The final “board” was meant to appear as if it was a trail map.

Packaging

Everything from the game packs up into a nice tiny bundle and is stored away into the box. Pioneers couldn’t travel with too much, so the final package had to remain compact.

Branding & Identity

The logo, which was later wood-burned into the front of the box, details the rustic lives of the pioneers who ventured along the Oregon Trail.
